Speech & Language Therapy Initial Assessments

Background and requirement

Our NHS Trust client provides Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT) to Children and Young People (CYP) across their community, in clinics, home, educational settings and virtually.

The service provides assessment and intervention for health and local authority referrals.

With a backlog of c500 initial assessments, a partner was sought who had the capacity to clear this backlog, reduce waiting times and free up substantive SaLTs to focus on follow up interventions.

Our client needed a value for money, high quality service that would be responsive to their needs and offer robust contract management. Though most importantly could show strong evidence of proven delivery.

Solution and results

Globe Workforce Solutions provided a dedicated Account Manager to oversee the solution design and delivery. Additionally a dedicated Delivery Manager, who’s responsibility included appointing a team of Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) in conjunction with the client and managing the integration into the client’s organisation.

With direction and guidance from both Globe Workforce Solutions and client, a team of SaLTs removed the backlog, offering families initial assessments of their child’s SLCNs, and enabling achievement of 10 week timeframes as backlog clearance progressed. 

The result of this focused approach was to clear the c500 backlog within the 3 month target. The process was so effective another 500 initial assessments were added to the project and dully delivered in scope.
